Some Good Energy Independence News, Sort of ...

Good news for energy independence -- in China, not here!

China is not just increasing the number of coal-powered generating plants. It's also developing enough
new nuclear power stations, 24 in all, to more than double its current share.

In case you were wondering, China is using advanced nuclear technology developed in the U.S., so there is little chance of another Chernobyl.

The United States, on the other hand, not only hasn't built a new nuclear plant in over 30 years, but the new Obama energy plan would halt or limit expansion of current coal-fired plants, possibly even shutting some of them down.

But Smart Grid will save us!
