Oh, What a Wedding Weekend!
Back from a grueling (wonderful) few days in Texas to be there for my daughter's wedding. It was a fantastic event, marred only by a failing air conditioning system in the church. Ah, well, it will be something to help us all remember the details.
Not that I would forget them. The look on my daughter's face as we danced at the reception will forever be etched in my memory. She was so blissfully happy! Ah, yes. A different, but wonderful, look as she gazed at her new husband, again and again!
I don't think there is a standard protocol for Fathers of the Bride. I think we generally do whatever is asked of us by our daughters and wives. Some fathers get away with signing the checks and sipping champagne. Not so this FOTB; my daughter decided that I could multi-task my way through the preparations and events. So I found myself escorting, lectoring, singing (with my sons and elder daughter), and acting as chief photographer.
But it was great fun, even if it did wear me out. I still managed to meet most of my new in-laws -- great people, by the way -- and chat incessantly with all our relatives who made the long journey. The catering was excellent, the decorations were awesome, and the band! Well, the band was Tulsa's very own Left on Harvard! Thanks, Tabor, Jason and Bryan! Everyone loved you, and your sister enjoyed showing you off to her new family. Thanks, too, for letting me sit on on "Hotel California."
I meant to get back to Oklahomily yesterday, but I couldn't muster the energy, besides which I started editing over 850 photos and deciding which ones to enlarge, etc. Gonna take awhile.
Though I am still somewhat fatigued, I am back in the editor's chair and ready to tackle a couple of posts today.
