GA$ WOE$ -- It's $3 in Tulsa

Spent a couple of fun hours in the recording studio last night with the members of Left on Harvard, a Tulsa-based band founded by two of the Oklahomilist's sons. First time in several years to be back in the producer's chair, this time overseeing a lead vocal track. About midnight, the track being completed, we bade our adieus and hit the road for home, these days fearing that our coach will turn into a pumpkin. (Yeah, we're not as young as we used to be.)

Thus it was that just after midnight, as the powers of darkness sallied forth, that we saw the Quik Trip sign showing gasoline at $2.999, which as Yogi Berra might say is just the same as $3, which is real money.

The math: In 36 hours we have seen gasoline rise from $2.57 a gallon to $3, a 43 cent increase. That's 16.73 percent.

Another perspective: we purchased gasoline at the first of the year for around $2.05, an increase thus far of 46%.

Sure hope somebody has enough spare change left to purchase my sons' new album.
