About Sweet Tea

What's Wrong With the World Rant No. 27:

Sweet tea.

I like iced tea. Occasionally, in the cold winter, I will drink a cup of hot tea. I like the taste of tea.

What I do not like is "other stuff" in my tea, like sugar, or milk. A little lemon, on occasion, is tolerable, but just barely. Now that I am older, I also do not drink sweet tea because it would be bad for me. But I wouldn't drink it anyway.

I hate sweet tea.

Being a lover of liberty, however, I do not oppose sweet tea for thee. Knock yourself out.

What's wrong is that many of my favorite drive-through restaurants offer sweet tea on the menu now, and it has become painfully apparent that the people who staff the windows do not know the difference between sweet tea and unsweetened tea. At least a couple of times a week, on average, I have to go back through, or walk inside, and swap out a noxious cup of sugary, tea-flavored water for a cup of the real McCoy.

For the love of all that's holy, people, since you can't get our orders right, just give each of us the unsweetened tea and pass the sugar to those who require it!

That is all.
