Health Care on Front Burner; Say No on Friday

Health care is on the front burner today, which only stands to reason since the Progressives know that the nation's attention is focused on the Supreme Court nomination hearings of Sonio Sotomayor. That means the green light is on to push universal health care onto the American public while we are distracted.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pay attention to the Sotomayor nomination. Just understand that her confirmation is a done deal. Nothing is going to change it. Why waste your time? Just take note if one of your senators votes "yes." Take him out in the 2010 or 2012 elections.

That is, of course, if we still bother with those silly things by then.

The president's poll numbers are plummeting faster than his first pitch at the All Star game. (Wasn't it fortunate that he had a first baseman there to dig it out?) He cannot afford to have Congress wait much longer or the political weather will be too adverse to get this through.

It must be done quickly because as soon as the American people realize what is going to happen to their taxes, their out of pocket costs, the quality of their care, the burgeoning federal deficits that inevitably must take place, the inflation, the lost jobs, the private insurers who will be priced out of business, et cetera, then there will be a groundswell not only for stopping the Democrats' health care "reform," but there will be a general feeling that it's time to toss the bums out.

Well, actually I feel like that right now.

In fact, I feel like sending a message this Friday, between 11 a.m. and noon, at the offices of various Oklahoma congressmen around the state of Oklahoma. Several "No ObamaCare" Rallies are planned for all those who can take off work, or use their lunch hours, to deliver the message that the people of Oklahoma do not want to turn our health care system over to the tender mercies of the federal government.

Now the chances are that most of our Congressional delegates are not going to vote to do that anyway. But -- and this is important -- the situation is desperate and we must take no chances that they misunderstand our passionate anger and disgust of those who would push us down this socialist path. We need for them to be telling their colleagues in Washington, and the members of their staffs who are quite likely closet progressives, that the mood of the people is not pleasant.

Also, for those of you in Oklahoma's 2nd District, loosely represented by Rep. Dan Boren: Even though he says he is not for ObamaCare, he has given caveats such as "if there is a public insurance option." It is quite possible that the House will strip out the public option in order to get Blue Dogs like Danny Boy on board. Of course there is no guarantee that the public option will not be added back in by the Senate, or reinserted in conference committee, which means that our fresh-faced representative can claim he was powerless to prevent what happened.

That's why we must shout a resounding "No!" to all forms of ObamaCare. Even a watered-down version will be but a prelude to a federal power grab.

The "No ObamaCare" rallies at Boren's McAlester and Claremore offices will be between 10 a.m. and noon on Friday. The McAlester address is 118 E. Carl Albert Parkway. Google it.

The Tea Parties were and are a good thing, but if we don't follow up with direct action on specific topics where freedom is at stake, then we are, as Shakespeare said, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
