Check 'American' when you can

A great idea over at the Corner today where Mark Krikorian suggests that a groundswell movement of just plain folks can short-circuit the government's continued attemps to classify everyone according to race.

How, you ask, do we do this?

When asked on various census, application and enrolment forms what our "race" is, we simply reply "American!" If we have to cross other choices out, write new choices in, or whatever, the result by 2010 would be a confused government certain only that it has a majority of Americans in its populace.

If ever we are to get to Martin Luther King's color-blind society, this must happen.
