A Primer on Palestinian Police Protocol

We think we've figured out what's wrong in Palestine.

Palestinian police storm offices in Gaza Strip

GAZA (Reuters) - About 200 policemen stormed government offices in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on Monday to protest at the failure of the Palestinian Authority to fight growing lawlessness, witnesses said.

The incident was the latest sign of chaos in Gaza, which has suffered growing internal unrest since Israel withdrew last September after 38 years of occupation.

Firing into the air as they ran through the streets, the policemen raided government offices, courthouses, an election office and the municipality building in Rafah.

They smashed windows at the Interior Ministry building and forced the staff to leave.

The number of police taking part in the protest swelled to some 200 officers, most of them armed, who forcibly shut down one government building after the other.

"We are calling on all officers to take off their uniforms because the Palestinian Authority has tied the hands of policemen, preventing us from implementing law and order," one policeman told Reuters.

For guys with tied hands they sure know how to smash windows and evacuate secretaries.

Here's the deal: Guys, you are the cops. The PA will never, ever do diddly-squat to make your jobs easier or even understandable. If you want to enforce the law, you have to step to the plate and enforce the law. Do so much law enforcing that the PA courts are actually forced to deal with it. Cram the jails. (You do have jails, don't you?). Use every pair of handcuffs you have. We've seen the video and read the stories. You guys could all work overtime for a month and still have plenty to do. (They do pay overtime, don't they?)

What you do not do is smash windows and evacuate secretaries out of the offices from which your salaries are paid.

That is stupid, stupid, stupid. It should've been the first thing you were taught in Police Academy, or as they say in the Palestinine, PA-PA.

What? No Police Academy?

Sheesh.
